Route Taken: Boujdour, Laayoune (capital of Western Sahara), Tarfaya, Sidi Akhfennir, Tan Tan – 297 miles

Making up the miles – a  long lonely coastline. There were a  few options to explore the coastline a bit closer using off-road routes , but we continued on the main road north.

We cross the border between Western Sahara and Morocco proper. We use Tan Tan as a base for the night, arriving early so that we have time ot relax in the evening.

Route taken: Dhakla, Echtoucan Boujdour – 213 miles – max temp 28c

Had to get the nail out of the tyre before we left, so went in search of a workshop.

With no rush after that, we stopped for lunch and relaxed for a while. We got going on the desert road north. There’s only one route north and it’s not that interesting. Quite a bit of traffic around. We passed a rally heading south. We made out it was from Belgium but not sure where they were heading.

Some nice stretches that took in the coast, but not much else. First hot shower in ages after we arrived in Boujdour. We are heading onto Tan Tan tomorrow. Another long day’s drive.
